Steelyard water clock is a special type of clepsydra, which measures the time according to the variation of the weight of water in the water-receiving scoop and by virtue of Chinese steelyard. The earliest Steelyard water clock created in the northern Wei dynasty period (386 A.D.-557A.D.), which improved in Sui and Tang dynasty, at last to be the royal timer.
