Jing Che is a kind of tool lifting water from deep wells, occurring in Tang Dynasty (618-907), Jing Che is developed based on windlass. Jing Che mainly includes a lying gear, a standing gear, a standing water wheel and a series of bucket chain. Humans or animals can push the lying gear, which matches with the standing gear. The standing gear connects with the water wheel in the same axle, while the bucket chain is twisted around the wheel. Since Jing Che is vertical to the ground when water, it is also used to draw salt water in Southwest China.
