筒车, 又称天车, 一种古老的自动提水设备, 发明于唐代（公元618年～907年）前期。它由立式水轮、竹筒、支撑架及水槽等组成。立于河边水中，河水冲击水轮，带动竹筒取水倒入水槽，再去灌溉农田。河水长流不息，水轮不停运转形成自流灌溉。
