磨车出现于南北朝（公元420年～581年）时期，是一种行进式的粮食加工机械。车轮上附立轮，立轮带动平轮，平轮中轴上方装磨，车轮的转动带动石磨旋转工作。车行磨转，行十里能磨麦一斛。磨车又名行军磨，在行军时加工军粮以节省时间。
